The four-leaved flower, mental feature in the intei ior of buildings is frequentlyused in this style, although it is more common in thePerpendicular. Decorated battlements may generallybe distinguished by the horizontal moulding being cutoff at each opening, and not continued vertically downthe sides of it, as is usual in the later styles; andthis applies to theactual battlement onthe parapet, as wellas to the merelyornamental battle-ment in the inte-rior. It occurs onthe top of a screen,or of a piscina orother niche; alsoon the transom, andsometimes on thesill of a window; inall which situationsit is more commonand more conspicu-ous in the Perpen-dicular style.
