Ellert electric car at IBM, IBM research. IBM scientist Bruno Reihl in an Ellert electric car (Mini-El) in the car park at IBM Research Zurich, Switzerland, in February 1991. At left is Swiss physicist and Nobel laureate (Karl) Alexander Muller (born 1927). The car is connected with a wire to a charging station. Muller shared the 1987 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work here in the 1980s on high-temperature superconductivity. The Mini-El, from Denmark, was first marketed in 1987. As of 2014, it is known as the CityEl and produced in Germany.
