Pillaiyar, an aspect of Gaṇeśa
Pillaiyar, an aspect of Gaṇeśa, sits on a throne carried on the back of his vahana (conveyance), a bandicoot. He carries in his upper right hand a parashu (axe) or perhaps an ankusha (elephant goad), and in his upper left holds the pasha (noose). His lower right hand carries the broken tusk, and in his lower left is the laddu (sweetmeats), which he nuzzles with his trunk. The bandicoot is splendidly caparisoned and bejeweled.
