Remarks.—Having before me two fine specimens shot bymyself to-day (15th March), which exhibit a very remarkabledifference as to size, I am induced to offer a few remarks onthis subject. One of them in fact appears a giant comparedwith the other. Their dimensions are as follows. Similar differences exist in most of our nativebirds ; but it would manifestly be absurd to found specific dis-tinctions upon them. These two Buntings are precisely similarin colouring, only the bill of the large individual has the lowermandible more vellow. 445 EMBERIZA CITRINELLA. YELLOW BUNTING. YELLOW HAMMER.
