The late autumn sun lights up the ‘Deichman Bjørvika’ new main library facing the waterfront and harbour. Next door is also the modern Oslo Opera House in Oslo, Norway. The municipal public library serving Oslo is the country's first and largest library. It has six floors with 450,000 books, films and music. It also has a movie theatre, media workshops, gaming zones, lounges and a restaurant. The library was designed by Lund Hagem Architects and Atelier Oslo. The building is constructed using environmentally friendly materials such as fire-rated fibreglass-reinforced plastic filled with thermal insulation, the filling elements of triple glazing, and the horizontal connecting elements.
