Richmond Castle keep and gatehouse. North Yorkshire, England

The castle was built under order of Alan Rufus of Brittany who received the borough of Richmond from William the Conqueror in about 1069. The castle keep is a prominent part of the castle ruins that tower over the surrounding houses of the market town of Richmond.
