Abaffle board, hung slightly in advance of the point of impact of the ore onthe spreader, ensures the feed flowing quietly onto the surface of the meeting the water, the heavier gangue particles sink to the bottom ofthe washer and are discharged through the tailings vent, while the graphite, 102 together with an appreciable amount of fine dust gangue, floats over intothe collecting launder. These washers are built in units 4 feet in length,placed end to end and back to back. What is termed the New Munro washer is shown in Fig. 34. Thisconsists of a circular tank, into which the feed water is introduced through CONICAL SPREADER PLATE
