In going over his 18,000 feet of glass there was noted a fine house of sweet peas, freesia and smilax, from which a large crop is being cut. Werner Bros., at Clayton, Mo., were next visited. Alfred Werner guided the visitors through the houses, com- prising 58,400 square feet of glass, under which only roses and carnations are grown. About 27,500 carnations and 30,900 roses should help the supply, with a little more sunshine to bring out the blooms. The foreman, Charles Roper, has the houses in fine shape.
