Stream bank damaged by livestock

Stream bank damaged and compacted by repetitive trampling by cattle (poaching). This can lead to the death of vegetation, reduced activity of aerobic soil microorganisms and soil liquefaction, which can in turn lead to sediment running into waterways such as the stream course pictured. Photographed in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK.
