Montage of images of Emile Loubet (1838 - 1929), President of France, at the Maisons-Laffitte races 1902. More than just a racecourse, Maisons-Laffitte was one of the cradles of racing in the Paris region. Opened in 1878 by Joseph Oller, inventor of the pari-mutuel machine, it sits on 92 hectares that belonged to the wealthy banker Jacques Laffite.
