Bas relief sculptures on the Gopuram of the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India.


The Brihadeeswarar Temple Complex dates to the Chola period. Building started during the reign of King Raja Raja Chola I, in 1010. The famous temple tower (Vimana) at the centre of the complex is 66m (216 ft (66 m) high and explains why this is also known as the Big Temple.
