Combat cargo Marines aboard the USS Wasp unload gear from a Landing Craft Air Cushion aboard the ship, Jan. 30. The LCACs will later be used by Marines as part of Exercise Bold Alligator 2012 to move equipment and personnel from the ship to the shore in support of Marine operations. This exercise, the largest naval amphibious exercise in the past 10 years, represents the Navy and Marine Corps’ revitalization of the full range of amphibious operations. The exercise focuses on today’s fight with today’s forces, while showcasing the advantages of seabasing. This exercise will take place Jan. 30-Feb. 12, 2012 afloat and ashore in and around Virginia and North Carolina.
