The Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross, 1953. The Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross is one of two gold sceptres made in 1661 as part of the coronation regalia of the United Kingdom. It is a token of the monarchs temporal power as head of state. In 1910, it was redesigned to incorporate Cullinan I, also known as the Great Star of Africa, which is the largest clear cut diamond in the world.
