The diagnosis, therefore, is chiefly of value as warning the attendant of thepossible complications just mentioned, in order that he may beprepared to meet them. II The Justo-Minor Pelvis.—This form of pelvic deformityis of infrequent occurrence. The external configuration of thepatient and her antecedent history may give us no clue to itspresence. It is only through careful pelvimetry, external and. Fig. 7.—Generally Equally Contracted Pelvis (Justo-Minor). internal, that the diagnosis, ordinarily, may be reached. Allthe diameters of the pelvis are diminished to a greater or lessdegree, and it is apparent how essential it is to determine theamount of diminution in order to elect the proper operativeprocedure in any instance where the estimated size of the foetussuggests that assistance will be needed. In general, it may bestated, that in the presence of this variety of pelvic deformity, certainly in all but the lesser grades, it is advisable to explorethe pelvis manually (under anaesthesia), in order to determine,as approximately as possible, the length of the transverse andoblique diameters from the brim to the outlet. In reportedinstances the diminution in the diameters has amounted to an 20 OBSTETRIC SURGERY. inch and over. Early recognition of this type of pelvis,
