Logs of salvaged huon pine wait to be milled at Wilderness Woodworks, a specialty timber mill in Strahan, Tasmania. The tree is native to south west Tasmania; it is highly prized for its fine grain wood and natural oils that resist rot. It grows for several thousand years and is protected. Huon pine was previously used to build boats and windows; extremely expensive these days it is mostly used for craft.
