Radar Kite Glider at The Shuttleworth Collection VE Day Airshow, Old Warden Aerodrome, May 3rd 2015

The camouflaged "Radar Kite" served with the Glider Pilots Regiment at Haddenham near Thame, used early in the war to experiment with the detection of gliders by radar. As many of its metal parts as possible were replaced with wooden ones, the control cables for example being substituted for solid oak pushrods.
