Manchester, UK. 20th April, 2013. Young female musicians of the Dobcross Orchestra Youth Band play at the St George's day celebrations, a group event held in Albert Square and Piccadilly, an extension of the annual St George Parade to celebrate England's Patron Saint, with many musical performers various instruments and entertainers playing.
The Dobcross Youth Band is a brass band of committed players aged between 9 and 18 years old from the Pennine village of Dobcross in Saddleworth in the north of England. Formed in 1988 with a few village children it has now grown into a thriving organisation playing 40 to 50 engagements each year comprising of fundraising, contesting, social outings and supporting charities. The band aims to provide an environment where children and young people, irrespective of ability or background, can learn to play a brass instrument, improve their musical skills, perform successfully as a band and develop an understanding of discipline, self respect and teamwork.
