SEA OF JAPAN (Oct. 22, 2022) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Daniel Zehnder, from Dayton, Ohio, uses a naval infrared thermal imager (NIFTI) to check for heat signatures while Boatswain’s Mate Seaman Shawn Rosen, from Chicago, puts out a simulated class A fire during a fire drill in the chief’s mess aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65) while operating in the Sea of Japan, Oct. 22. Benfold is assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 71/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
