The Wilson Jr. and Early Harvest had not begun to turn, and the Lucretia had been ripe several days before we visited the patch the 8th of July. We will say at a venture that the Lucretia ripens at least ten days before any other Blackberry. This is surely a good record for Lucretia. Lucretia Dewberry From American Gardening are much larger than those of any other Dewberry or any other blackberry. A strange peculiarity of this plant is that it requires no trellises or stakes, but can easily be trained into a tree form. The fruit of this new Dewberry is jet-black and the flavor superior.
