On the morning of tlie 6th of February, having remained inthe interim on board of the transports, which, owing to the lengthand severity of the storm, were prevented from joining each oth-er and the remainder of the fleet, they started for Pamlico Sound,and duly arrived in sight of Roanoke Island. On the evening ofthe 7th, the gunboats having meanwhile engaged and partlysilenced the enemys !)attcries on the island, our forces, of whichthis regiment composed a part, landed, and bivouacked in an open.
