Some of the columns in the sliop aresteel and to the one opposite the doorthere is attached a power operated wind-lass, and it is bolted to a bracket over-head and is out of the way. There isfirst of all a countershaft which is at-tached to the main line shafting of theshop by means of a belt and a fast andloose pulley. Tlie countershaft carriesa 5 in. pinion which engages with a largegear wheel about 37 ins. in large wheel turns a shaft carryinga wooden drum upon which is wound.
