This isnot so delicate a reaction as the iodoform test of Lieben. Nitro-prussiate test (Legals): A few drops of a freshsolution of nitro-prussiate of soda are added to the urine 432 REFERENCE HANDBOOK OF THE MEDICAL SCIENCES. and enough liquor sodre to give a distinct alkaline reac-tion. A carmine-red color is given to every urine, whichchanges quickly into a yellowish-brown ; if now two orthree drops of glacial acetic acid be added, the red colorcomes back and the presence of acetone is indicated byan intense
