This can be easily obtained by careful preparation and iudicious management afterwards. Preparation of the Soil. — The ^ ground should be deeply dug, and all P roots, stones, etc., removed. Itshouk 7- then have a liberal application o; : Wood's Lawn Enricher or well-rottec manure (or compost is best). If ma- nure is used, it should be thoroughh well-rotted, otherwise the coarse ha) and weed-seeds which are in all ma- nures will germinate and fill the lawr with unsightly spots. The manure oi fertilizer should be thoroughly incor porated with the soil, and the soi raked as fine and smooth as possible Sowing the Seed.—Thick seeding al .vays gives best results. Our Ever- green Lawn Grass Seed should bt sown at not less than four bushels tf the acre ; or for small yards, ont quart to every 300 square feet (12x2-- feet). The seed should be carefulh and evenly sown and lightly raked in. and afterwards, provided the soil i> not wet, rolled or made firm by bat ting down with the back of the spade Lawn grass can be successfully sowi in the fall, any time after the first o August, and even in mild spells dur ing the winter, and in the spring up tc the middle of April. Care of Lawns Afterward.— While the grass is young, and even when the lawn gets well set, care should be taken that weeds and coarse grass, which spring up naturally in nearly all soils, do not get possession of the lawn. If a watchful oversight is kept over it at first, and any of these weeds or coarse grasses pulled up as they appear, the lawn grass will soon spread and thicken, so that it will take entire possession of the soil
