Looking from the south along the eastern footpath of the Queen Alexandra Bridge over the river Wear in Sunderland.

The Queen Alexandra lattice girder combined road/rail bridge over the river Wear in Sunderland was opened in 1909, but the upper, rail, deck was closed after a relatively short period as coal traffic diminished in the early 1920s. This Edwardian bridge is a grade two listed structure.
