Cleaning of bluespotted ribbontail ray (Taeniura lymma). This ray is being cleaned around its sensitive eye area by a bluestreak cleaner wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus). Cleaner fish have a symbiotic (mutually beneficial) relationship with their host fish: the fish remove harmful parasites from the fish's body and in return are allowed to feed unharmed. This ray is found in the Indo-West Pacific region and feeds on molluscs, worms, shrimps, and crabs. It detects its prey under the sand by detecting emitted electrical impulses. It grows to a maximum length of around 70 centimetres. Photographed on Egypt's Red Sea coast.
