Fig. 27 shows a similarbut more compact design adopted for the otherhoists. A 25-hp 12-A motor is geared to a drum30 ins. in diameter, and gives the hoist a speed of200 ft. per minute. An ordinary K-17 controlleris used and a friction band is provided by whichthe drum is thrown into or out of connection withthe motor. A band friction brake is operated bythe foot.
