The former house of county physician Modest A. Lozovskiy inside the Kremlin of Kolomna, Russia


The county physician Modest A. Lozovskiy lived and practiced at the turn of the century - from the 1880s to the late 1920s at Lazhechnikova Street 11 in Kolomna. He rented the entire second floor where he attended to patients. The doctor was responsible for the health of the residents of all 16 parishes of the county. Modest A. Lozovskiy was among the Kolomna intellectuals that on June 20, 1897 sent a petition to the Governor of Moscow requesting the opening of the city's public libraries . Later - in 1901 - MA Lozovskiy became the second head of library science. He also for a long time was a member of City Council. Among other things, he was the owner of a brick factory at the station Golutvin. As a trustee of the school Nikulskoe he helped with the repair of the building, the purchase of textbooks and shoes for the poorest students. When MA Lozovskiy died, his funeral was attended by thousands of Kolomna residents On April 24, 2003 a commemorative plaque was placed at the houses where he lived. This commemoration was attended by the students of the medical college, historians and library staff and last but not least the city administration.
