SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 19, 2022) Machinist Mate 2nd Class El Jean Root, from San Diego, prepare a fuel sample for a flash test in the oil lab aboard Arleigh Bruke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Higgins (DDG 76). Higgins is assigned to Task Force 71/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the 7th fleet’s principal surface force.
