It is a wonderfulcurative for all disorders of the stomach. It produces a largequantity of compact short stems, which, when cut are repro-duced time after time. The benefit derived from the con-sumption of these stems for only a short time, by those havingweak digestion, is said to be remarkable. The leaves whenboiled make a very wholesome and delicious salad, and thestrong shoots when young and tender are cooked and eatenlike asparagus. It can be blanched and rendered very tenderby simply covering.
