At the mouth of the pillthe rock was not traced to the deepest part of the section, but justbeyond, and outside the pill a complete section was made in whichthe rock-valley beneath the Pig. l.—Neyland [Scales: Horizontal, 400 feet=l , 100 feet=l inch.] mud is well marked, thedeepest boring being 45 feetbelow the level of low-waterspring-tides through 22 feetof silt. J^ot far from the mouth ofthe pill there is a depth ofQQ feet in the main channelof Milford Haven. The rock-bottom and sidesof the pill are of Old EedSandstone, and there is thesame general outline of cross-section above and below the presentwater-line. The sides have slopes of 1 vertical to 2-|, 2|, and1^ horizontal. The late Mr. Okeden, who made the borings, foundDiatomaceae in the clay brought up by the boring-tool, and hepreserved and mounted many specimens, now unfortunately lost.
