It serves as a major hub for United Airlines and is an international gateway to numerous destinations worldwide. The airport has five terminals (A, B, C, D, and E) connected by an underground train system and above-ground people movers. IAH covers 10,000 acres of land, making it one of the largest commercial airports in the United States. The airport features multiple security checkpoints, numerous dining and shopping options, and various lounges. It has five runways, the longest being 12,001 feet. The airport is named after George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, the airport served million passengers. IAH has received several awards for its services and facilities, including recognition for its art program which features rotating exhibits throughout the terminals.
