It was thenmore than an hour after sunset. We were at the cattleranch of a well-to-do Mexican named Roble, who haddigged a big well, found water, erected a big tank ofgalvanized iron fifteen feet high and constructed a hun-dred feet of concrete water-troughs for his cattle. Mr. Roble was at home, and he permitted us to waterour horses, night and morning,
