Norwegian archeologist Anne Stine Moe Ingstad (1918-1997), who (along with her husband Helge Ingstad) discovered the remains of a Norse settlement in L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland in 1960. She was the author of "The Norse Discovery of America" (1977), a commander of the Order of St. Olav, and was made a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science.
