Italy, Naples, Naples Museum, from Herculaneum, Panel with Green Monochrome Design
This fragment, discovered in the first phase of the excavations in Herculaneum, illustrates the passage from the 2nd Style, of witch it conserves the architectonic monumentality and sense of perspective, to the 3rd Style, identifiable above all in the ornamentation which now tends to the Arabesque, the new taste for columns emerging from corollas and the range of colours used.
