While mixed Hyacinths in the separate colors offered on page 3 are well adapted for bedding purposes, yet where a special design is wanted in which the colors must be sharp and distinct we advise using the named varieties. Not only do you then get the requisite colors, but at the same time much finer individual spikes of flowers, which well repays for the slight increase in cost. Cultural directions will be found on page 3. We might add that Hyacinth bulbs in some soils do well for a number of years without lifting or replanting. When through flowering, the beds may be sown or planted with shallow-rooting plants, such as Petu- nias, Verbenas, Portulaca, etc., which will keep the beds bright throughout the summer and in no way hurt the bulbs. The sizes of the following beds are 6 feet in dia?neter; plant, outside row 3 inches from edge of bed; each bed requires 108 bulbs, planted 6 inches apart each way.
