The bees will do well if they are able to "keep the wolf from the door " of their own homes. And if they could see what is ahead of them for the long dry year to come, I fear they would emigrate in a body—and it might be just as well for the bee-keeper in the end. I see bv Gleanings in Bee-Culture that Rambler was getting blue over the situation. As that was Feb. 9, I think by this time he must be ready to cut up into chunks for laundry use. And I also note that he has been pest- ered again by one of those deaf people. ?I had hoped' to be able to meet Ram- bler some time, as I journeyed to the " City of the Angels," but as I am afflicted by impaired hearing myself, I fear I will have to deny myself that pleasure ; but as my wife is a greater talker than I am, I can send her, and I imagine I hear him exclaim in de- spair, " Merciful heavens !"
