GEORGE CURTIS TREADWELL, MilitarySecretary to Governor Roosevelt, was bornin Albany, New York, August 24, 1872, son of MajorGeorge H. and Elizabeth (Schnebley) spent six years at a private school in Farmington, Connecticut, and five years at Sedgwick Institute,Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and was graduatedat the Sheffield Scientific School in 1893. He de-voted two years to taxidermy and the same lengthof time to the furriers trade, but has not followedeither as a business. From 1893 to 1895 he wasSecretary and Treasurer of the George C. TreadwellCompany, of Albany and New York ; was appointedTrustee and Executor of the Julia Treadwell Estatein 1894, and is Manager of several other January 1897 he began his duties as MilitarySecretary to Governor Black of New York with the. GEORGE CURTIS TRE.\DWELL rank of Colonel, serving in that capacity two years,and during the Spanish American War he was anAide-de-Camp on the Governors staff. He is nowMilitary Secretary on the staff of Governor Rooseveltwith the original rank. Colonel Treadwell is Secre-tary and Treasurer of the Yale .\lumni Associationof Eastern New York and holds the same offices inthe Albany organization of the Society of ColonialWars.
