UCH MACMILLAN CANCER CENTRE, London, United Kingdom. Architect: Hopkins Architects Partnership LLP, 2012. Waiting area in intern

This project comprises a new Ambulatory Cancer Centre building, the first of its kind outside the US. Featuring an internal courtyard and atrium and a gross internal floor area of 14,038 sqm, the scheme entailed the demolition of the basement of the former EGA Hospital, replaced by a seven-storey building with double-storey basement. This was constructed with a reinforced concrete frame and includes bronze cladding and a curtain walling system while a special room area was built for an Aseptic Suite and special procedure rooms. A late variation was incorporated to receive the world’s first PET MR machine produced.
