On the banks of the mighty river Narmada, lies the old town of Maheshwar. Once part of the kingdom of Chaktavartin Samrat Sahastraarjun, it was later the capital of Maratha King Holkar. The word Maheshwar is another name for the Lord Shiva in Hinduism.
