Turkey, Tupras Oil Refinery, recently taken over by Royal Dutch Shell. It is the largest enterprise in the Turkey economy, also topping the list of the 500 biggest industrial companies for 2005, and the 7th largest refinery in Europe. In 1999 there were fears that Tupras Refinery would be hit by an earthquake in the region, the storage tanks were at risk from igniting from the fire and were heavily damaged. The fire burned for nearly a week but the only loss was about 30,000 gallons of naphta. The refinery has been running normally since then supplying about a third of Turkey's demand for oil.
