Urine analysis. Laboratory techinician holding a multiple test stick (Multistix). Urine samples are in the background. The test stick will be immersed in a sample of urine for a specific amount of time. It will then be removed and the test stick's pads checked against a reference chart. Each pad tests for the presence (colour change) and or quantity (colour intensity) of blood (haematuria), protein (kidney disease) and glucose (diabetes), and for urinary tract infections and cystitis (inflammation of the bladder).
