Flackwell Heath, Bucks, UK. 16th Aug, 2013. A new star (nova) is visible in this view of the summer sky. The star, known as Nova Delphini 2013, suddenly appeared on 14 August. It is actually a normally faint white dwarf star that has flared to thousands of times its normal brightness, making it visible to the naked eye. The star is in the exact centre of the frame. The bright star at lower right is Altair at centre right is the arrow-shape of Sagitta, which conveniently points towards the nova. Credit: Galaxy Picture Library/Alamy Live News
