Church built about 1669 under the will of Joihn Barwick, Dean of 's cathedral, London and his brother, physician to King Charles II, who were both natives of Witherslack. Memorial to Geoffrey Stanley, died in 1871. The Stanleys have been Lords of the Manor of Witherslack since 1485 and it was the Eighth Earl of Derby who gave the land on which the church is built.
