Muscle myoblast sphere grown from a single muscle (myoblast) stem cell, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Muscle myoblasts are primitive embryonic muscle cells that can undergo rapid division and development in to muscle cells. A muscle derived cell stem cell line (C2C12) was used in culture to promote the growth of the muscle myoblast sphere. The C2C12 cell line is capable of differentiation. C2C12 cells are a useful model to study the differentiation of non-muscle cells to skeletal muscle cells Magnification: x200 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
