As farback as the beginning of the second decade of the last century,a blacksmith, named Flavel, lived at Newbold-on-Avon inWarwickshire. He had a wayward, drunken son, who gavehim much concern. In his solicitude, he was anxious that thePrimitives, of whose doings in Staffordshire and elsewhere hehad heard, should visit Newbold, if haply they might be themeans of rescuing his son from his evil courses.
