Goldstone antenna. Illustration of the 34-metre radio antenna at the Venus Station at Goldstone in California, USA. Goldstone was the site of the All-Sky Survey portion of NASA's Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), later called the High Resolution Microwave Survey (HRMS). The initial deployment of this survey took place on October 12 1992. In October 1993, NASA cut the HRMS funding from its budget. The SETI Institute continued the Targetted Search portion of NASA's SETI programme with private funding under the name Project Phoenix. This picture is entitled Desert Sentinel and is the official artwork commemorating the initial deployment of the SETI survey.
