A survey of the quality and thequantity of the commodity of nursingcare is being made this year not onlyin Alberta but, I understand, in Mani-toba as well. Although these surveysare government sponsored and con-trolled, the nurse and her professionalassociation are well represented. Thesesurveys are preliminary steps. Thematerial, facts and knowledge of situa-tions, gathered in this way, are to forma basis for future study of the needsof nursing care. In the meantime, a study of thequantity of nursing care required maybe done at local level by any individualor groups of individuals concerned,using their own methods, their ownknowledge and experience in order toapply it to their situation.
