To the above I may add that the worst cases of maggot- attack I have seen followed sowing on ground which was not prepared beforehand, and had not received a special dressing of manure. Guano is recommended by some growers, but I have known such severe attack of Onion Fly accompany its use as a dressing that I have not mentioned it as desirable.â(Ed.)
