The trouble was that the operatingpawls would fail to complete their forward stroke foradvancing the controller drum before the rack and pinionof the release cylinder was at work pushing in the con-trary direction. The consequence was a wedging action atthe star wheel. The control equipment is now so inter-locked that air cannot enter the port of the release cylinderuntil the interlocking circuit for the operating cylinder hasbeen opened.
