A Flock of Soay Sheep, Ovis aries, Caprinae, Bovidae, Rammamere Heath, Bedfordshire. The Soay sheep is a primitive breed of domestic sheep (Ovis aries) descended from a population of feral sheep on the island of Soay in the St. Kilda Archipelago, near the Western Isles of Scotland. It is one of the Northern European short-tailed sheep breeds. They are being used on Rammamere Heath to control the growth of grass and maintain the heathland.
